“Divine Interruption”
It was truly a blessing listening to the preaching ministry of my husband Carlos on Sunday 8/13/23 as he ministered to the body of Christ a word of encouragement, healing, and hope, titled “Divine Interruption”. Friends, sometimes life throws us curve balls by way of trials, grief, pain, illness, and loss. In our humanity, we sometimes become overwhelmed, disheartened, and despondent by it all. Often, God remains quiet and silent as the winds, rains, and storms of life rage over us. Sometimes our resources and support systems get depleted. Times like these often push us to the edge of our humanity; as it did the widow in Luke 7: 11-17 who was mourning the loss of her only son. Oftentimes, it is in these seasons that God gets to do some of his best work in our lives because, in our weakness, He becomes strong.
Think about this, the widow already lost her husband, thus making her a widow. The bible didn’t tell us how long ago, but if you have ever lost a loved one you know the sorrow, grief, and pain associated with such loss. I’m still mourning the loss of my brother Carrie, and let me tell you, this kind of loss is not easy, had it not been for the Lord who was on our side. I love you, Carrie.
Now her only son is dead. I can imagine the thoughts and conversations of sister deceptive, sister town gossip, and the words of brother manipulative spinning this time of loss and grief to prove that he was right about her and convincing the naïve and the vulnerable that God is not with her, that’s why this terrible thing happen to her and her family, Hmm! It is the judgment of the Lord they declared. She and her family are cursed. God is punishing them for something she/they did. He took her husband and now her son. She must be an evil person. They must be a cursed family. They felt vindicated and justified in their evil summation of her situation, But All Glory to Our Righteous, Loving, Compassionate All-Knowing GOD!
Baby, let me tell you something, God’s thoughts, and ways are different from ours. Yes, God is just, and he doesn’t like sin. But that’s why he paid the ultimate price to deliver us from the bondage of sin. Yes, there is coming a day of judgment if we don’t repent and turn from our sins. However, God is not sitting there with an axe ready to cut us down for the generational sins of yesteryear, or the sins we committed yesterday and today. As a loving father, he pleads with us to repent and turn from our sinful ways. He wants to have a loving healthy relationship with us. One that is bound in mutual love. That’s why he paid the ultimate price to redeem us from our fallen state.
So, yes, this precious lady, like many of us had to endure sorrow, loss, grief, pain, economic setbacks, and most likely criticism and awkward moments from those who knew her story but did not know the purpose and will of her God. Stop here and repent for not trusting the divine wisdom of our God. No trial is wasted, nothing that he allowed in our path is wasted. From a human point of view, it’s the end, it’s horrible, and life as we know it will never be the same, but it’s in these challenging moments, if we faint not, we get to see the glory of God manifested in our lives and world. These trials are meant to cleanse, purge, process, strengthen, equip, and sharpen, and bring us into a closer relationship with Jesus. Yes, I understand, in the raw moments of life; they don’t feel like it. But in the process of time, if we endure hardship, trust the plan and process of Jesus through it all. We will see a new version of ourselves emerge after the wind, rain, fire, and storm.
So, while this precious sister, her family, and her true friends were mourning such great loss and planning the funeral of her son; she did not know that there was going to be a divine interruption of the funeral procession. Friend, I declare a divine interruption over your life right now! See Jesus had another plan for her and her son; thus, leading to a “Divine Interruption”. See, while the naysayers were talking negatively about her, Jesus was moved with compassion for her. He gently told her, to stop crying. I can hear the gentleness and warmth in his voice towards her because I have been a recipient of the loving nature of my heavenly father so many times.
“Soon afterward Jesus went with his disciples to the village of Nain, and a large crowd followed him. A funeral procession was coming out as he approached the village gate. The young man who had died was a widow’s only son, and a large crowd from the village was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said. Then he walked over to the coffin and touched it, and the bearers stopped. “Young man,” he said, “I tell you, get up.” Then the dead boy sat up and began to talk! And Jesus gave him back to his mother. Great fear swept the crowd, and they praised God, saying, “A mighty prophet has risen among us,” and “God has visited his people today.” And the news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding countryside.”

…Jesus showed up amidst the funeral procession and stopped the funeral. He told the young man to arise and live again. Praise God! All the Glory went to Jesus, read it. At the end of the day, that’s why we are here, to give glory to Jesus and to expand His Earthly Kingdom.
Friends, I don’t know what trial you may be facing today or what’s gone dead in your life; But let me interrupt your thoughts to say, God can stop the funeral processions, the decay, the grief, the mourning, the lack, and breathe life into every challenging situation and every dead dreams and reality. He can heal, restore, and deliver you from all sorrow, grief, pain, and illnesses. He can supply every need. Trust HIM! Surrender every lie, fear, and doubt to Him and look to him through the eyes of courage, faith, and hope today and allow him to turn it around for your good.
